Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will my Roylo Globe Mylar bag shrink like a vacuum pack when the oxygen absorber is used?

Not necessarily — and that’s perfectly normal.
Oxygen absorbers remove oxygen, not all air. Since oxygen makes up about 21% of air, your bag may not appear vacuum-sealed. Even if it doesn’t shrink, the absorber is still working correctly and protecting your food.

2. Can I put food directly into Roylo Globe Mylar bags?

Yes. Our bags are made from BPA-free, food-grade materials that meet FDA safety standards, meaning you can safely store food directly inside them without any additional liners.

3. How long will food last in Roylo Globe Mylar bags?

When sealed properly with oxygen absorbers and stored in a cool, dark place, dry foods like rice, beans, flour, and oats can stay fresh for up to 25–30 years. Shorter-term items like snacks or dehydrated fruits typically last 1–3 years.

4. Do I need to heat seal the bags or just zip them shut?

For long-term storage, you should always heat seal your Mylar bags using a heat sealer, impulse sealer, or hair straightener. The ziplock feature is great for temporary storage or short-term use.

5. How do I know which size bag to use?

Use small bags (¼ or ½ pint) for spices or seeds, quart-size bags for snacks and grains, and gallon or 5-gallon bags for bulk items.
You can also check our Mylar Storage Guide page for a detailed breakdown by food type and storage duration.

6. Are oxygen absorbers reusable?

No, oxygen absorbers are single-use items. Once opened and exposed to air, they begin working immediately. Always seal your food bags quickly and reseal unused absorbers in an airtight jar or vacuum bag.

7. What thickness are Roylo Globe Mylar bags?

Our bags range from 8.5 to 10.5 mils in thickness, offering superior puncture resistance and light protection compared to standard 5-mil bags. The thicker design ensures your food stays safe even in long-term storage conditions.

8. Can I store liquids or wet food in Mylar bags?

No — Mylar bags are designed for dry goods only (like rice, coffee, pasta, and grains). Storing wet foods can lead to bacterial growth or spoilage.

9. Where does Roylo Globe ship from?

All U.S. orders are shipped from our fulfillment centers within 1–2 business days, with standard delivery between 3–7 business days.
We currently offer free U.S. shipping on orders over $50.
